In the past, Brockport Student Government (BSG) has conducted surveys asking students who they want to perform for the spring concert. This year, instead of a survey, BSG created the Facebook event, "Goo Goo Dolls for Brockport's Spring Concert" in hopes of receiving student opinion about the band.

"Goo Goo Dolls have won surveys in the past," the Facebook page reads. "Sadly we don't have enough time to do a solid survey before spring bookings are dried up, so if you're interested then attend (join the group). If the interest is high again, we will get them."

The Facebook event was created in December 2010 and has attracted more than 1,300 "attending" guests as of Monday, March 7. Although BSG President Eric May and Programming Director Matt Vogt said they can't confirm the spring concert artist, the Goo Goo Dolls recently posted a concert at Brockport on the its website and Facebook page for April 17.

"No contracts have been signed yet, but as most people have found out, it seems like [the Goo Goo Dolls] are set to perform," Vogt said. "As soon as a contract is out (for the main act of the concert), we'll make sure people know."

May also said the contract has not been signed "but everyone can infer who it may be."

Vogt confirmed the date for the concert, Sunday, April 17.

Vogt said BSG doesn't have opening acts signed for the concert yet, but its still looking.

"We have no idea who will be the opening act," Vogt said in a Feb. 28 meeting. "We're looking at other options like local bands because we might not have time to get a high-caliber opening act at this point."
