Robby's Lobby #97

Hey Hey INROCKERS, hope all is well with you this month, the Holidays are nearly upon us here in the US, we all begin what seems like a month long string of endless parties, dinners and ''get togethers''. But I'm just about to get busy with a whole bunch of other things too, and I mean a whole bunch of other things!

Let's see where do I start?

Well, Goo Goo Dolls have been asked to perform on a float in the 87th annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City! We will be performing our new single on a float (which I hear may be a HUGE candy bar) and making our way amongst marching bands, huge inflated character balloons and other musical acts such as Fallout Boy, Joan Jett, Stevie Wonder and many, many others! The show is broadcast nationwide and Is really a pretty huge part of the American Holiday tradition!

Our drummer Mike is having twins in December so we spent a good part of last month rehearsing with our friend Rick Woolstenhulme from the band Lifehouse who will be filling in for the month of December for a handful of gigs including the Parade in NY and a 4 day cruise we are doing to the Bahamas with Matchbox 20! We will be performing 3 shows onboard a Carnival Cruise line departing from Miami! We also have about a dozen shows after the Cruise including a 2 song performance at the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting in NYC.

And if that's not enough Goo Goo Dolls for the holidays we are also performing in the Hollywood Christmas Parade which makes it's way down Sunset Boulevard past Mann's Chinese Theater and the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Los Angeles always seems like an unlikely place to be at Christmas. With temperatures in the 70s and Palm Trees gently swaying in the breeze, the sunny blue skies of LA in December don't really scream CHRISTMAS to a New Yorker like myself, but living there for many years has taught me there is Christmas Spirit in LA as well and we're happy to be able to celebrate the holidays with people on both coasts!

Speaking of Christmas I went to Niagara Falls, Canada with my wife and daughter yesterday to take a picture for our family Christmas Card, oddly enough we took it in front of a Green Screen and they put an image of NF behind us, but I swear we were actually there ! We had a great time taking little Hana around to see the sites, enjoy some nice Chinese food and take a ride on a huge Ferris Wheel next to the Falls! I've included a picture from our ride, as you can see we are both having a blast!

So I've been able to spend a little time at home before I start making my way around the US for touring again, and I have been able to catch up on TV Japan, but my wife and I still find ourselves with a bad case of ''Ama Loss'', and seeing Aki chan on so many year end NHK shows and hearing the commentators saying how popular the phrase ''Je-Je-Je'' is this year isn't making it any easier!

I hope you all have a great holiday season, I will be visiting Japan again in January and can't wait to spend more time in one of my favorite places in the world.

Until next month. . . . .talk soon
Peace,
Robby !!!
