The 2011 Pro Bowl Halftime Show will feature the Goo Goo Dolls and Kris Allen, a real boon to fans of mid-nineties adult-contemporary-alternative-soundtrack rock and American Idol winners. The Goo Goo Dolls are touring in support of Something for the Rest of Us, an album I'm surprised to learn exists, while Kris Allen is apparently supporting a single entitled "Alright with Me", about linguistic prescriptivism and people who insist on it being "all right." This might not actually be true, but believing it to be so will undoubtedly increase my enjoyment of the halftime show, if I don't end up going out for McDonald's at that point.

I don't think they'll be playing any songs from it at the Pro Bowl halftime show, but Superstar Car Wash is a nice little pseudo-Replacements album, and I won't deny that "Broadway" was one of my favorite songs when I was 13. "Slide", I just learned on Wikipedia, is the second-best mid-nineties rock single about getting an abortion. I don't have anything interesting to say about Kris Allen, but I think I remember him covering "Heartless" at some point, which, I liked 808s and Heartbreak a little more than the next guy. So there's that!
