Goo Goo Dolls Live in Buffalo: July 4th, 2004

What better way to celebrate Independence Day in 2004 than a free concert by Buffalo’s biggest band, the Goo Goo Dolls, on the steps of City Hall? One that would be recorded for a CD and a DVD for the band’s first live release. Some 60,000 people came down for the show. Just one problem. The rain came down as well. It was a torrential downpour. In fact, it was the worst rainstorm in Buffalo in more than 20 years. But no one left. The skies cleared in time for the show to start, but the rain resumed, even harder than before. At one point the band was pulled off the stage for safety’s sake, and they ended up skipping three songs….but they finished the show and the DVD is amazing….capturing the Goo Goo Dolls at their best, and showing just how much their hometown loves them. Just check out "Iris"...it still gives me chills, and not from the rain.
