Goo Goo Dolls
The Rave Bar
Milwaukee, WI
April 17, 2006

99 WMYX, a local Milwaukee radio station brought the well known band, the Goo Goo Dolls into the Rave Bar last night for a special and very intimate show. The only way to see this performance was to win tickets from the station.Goo Goo Dolls WMYX had no problem finding fans for this. As the 300 lucky winners piled into the Rave Bar, they rushed to get as close to the stage as possible.

The band started off with the melodic and straight forward "Stay With You" from the soon to be released CD Let Love In. Lead singer/gutarist John Rzeznik seemed to feel at ease with the crowd with his easy smile and casual banter. His signature blonde hair still looking good as ever. The band moved into a spirited version of "Slide" with it's crafty hooks and emotive lyrics shining brightly. Bassist Rob Takac jumped all over the tiny stage and produced some jaunty basslines along the way.

The powerpop continued with "Broadway" and "Without You Here." The band feeling their oats and really began to hit their stride at this point.
A pregnant woman standing in the front row found John bending down to congratulate her. As he rubbed her belly the woman radiated an ear to ear smile.

During "Become" John laid his guitar down and reached for the hand of yours truly. At first appearing to shake my hand and then suddenly pulling me on stage (to my amazement) for a short dance. Right before performing "Better Days" John stated that "we need to start taking care of our people here in the U.S." referring to the devastation and and suffering of New Orleans residents. Many people in the crowd applauded and whistled.
Closing off the short night with a touching "Let Love In," which is also off of their new album, the Goo Goo Dolls made sure that everyone in the audience felt like they were part of the show.
