Hey, just wanted to let whoever is interested know that I just updated my interview with Goo Goo Dolls lead singer Johnny Rzeznik to include exchanges that weren’t in the original version, which will appear in print on Thursday. As I’m sure most of you know, The Goos are playing a concert for the Azalea Festival with Collective Soul on Thursday, April 8, at Trask Coliseum.

And I also got a really nice e-mail from Goo Goo Dolls fan Diana Davies, as you’ll see below:

“I’m just writing to say thank you very much for your article. As you found out, the band’s longevity is well-deserved. The Goo Goo Dolls relationship with their fans is extraordinary.

“I wanted you to know that this spring they regularly live-streamed from the recording studio allowing fans to see every step of the record-making process: recording vocals & instruments, orchestral sessions, working in the control booth & even break times. We got to know all the producers and engineers. These were long sessions, up to 12 hours. All without pretense or any kind of editing (except muting sometimes because they couldn’t release almost completed tracks off the new album). We now know how exhausting and sometimes frustrating, the work is. Combined with their regular tweets to us, it meant we’ve never felt out of contact with the band. The live-streaming continues. There was another session yesterday from Nashville. It’s like Take Your Fans to Work Day, only all the time. We live in their pockets. I’ve never experienced anything like it.”
