Title: Goo Goo Dolls / First Release
Performer: Goo Goo Dolls
Released: 1987
Format(s): Cassette, CD, LP

Goo Goo Dolls, the first and self-titled album of the band, was produced in Buffalo in the winter of 1986. The album was produced on a $750 budget and only 2500 copies were made, but it's unclear if that's only the LP version. Robby Takac is the lead singer on this album, that was first released on Mercenary Records, a daughter company of Celluloid Records. Shortly after the release of the album the label went bankrupt. A few months later the band was contracted by Metal Blade Records, who re-released the album in 1991 and 1994, renaming it to First Release and changing the cover.

Interviewer: "So this record was recorded entirely in Buffalo, at Trackmasters studios, correct?"
Robby: "In three days."
John: "They called us on Thuesday and then we had a record on Friday."
