Haven Activities Council (H.A.C.) presented the Goo Goo Dolls and their
opening act, Ducky and the Vintage on Sunday in the Thomas Fieldhouse.
Although many students had not heard of Ducky and the Vintage before,
they were pleasantly surprised by the alternative rock stylings from
this Harrisburg-based group. After a short break in between sessions for
setting up the main act, the Goo Goo Dolls came out to a roaring mass
of people. Playing their hits, old and new, the band kept the crowd
entertained. Even before the show started, anticipation was high, with
excited students lining up hours before the doors opened.
Some
students were able to meet with the Goo Goo Dolls by providing canned
goods. Those who had the most cans were given the opportunity to get
their pictures taken with members of the band. Students were excited to
hear older songs such as "Slide" and "Broadway," but were also excited
when the lead singer announced songs from their newest album.
"I
really enjoyed it because I grew up on their music. I was excited when I
heard they were coming here," said Travis Kolovich, junior at LHU.
