Robby's Lobby #90

BlogJune, 2013Inrock.co.jp

HeyHey INROCKERS and Welcome to another edition of Robby's Lobby here in your favorite music magazine, the almighty INROCK!

I'm typing away from 35,000 feet in the air again (i feel like i spend an awful lot of time up here) on my way to Las Vegas, Nevada from JFK Airport for a private show by a hotel pool at the Mandalay Bay Resort. This private gig popped up in the midst of our march towards the release of the new Goo Goo Dolls album "Magnetic" (our 10th studio album!) on June 11th 2013 (June 12th in Japan), the original release date was May 7th, but someone in the main office at Warner Brothers decided a June release was going to be more effective, so while we wait we're out touring, promoting and interviewing for another month before the delayed release!

We did a bunch of live television and internet streamed performances here in the US before heading out to our Spring leg of the Magnetic Tour, a short tour of colleges, theaters and small to medium sized venues before our 46 date mega summer US/Canada tour with Matchbox 20 and Kate Earl beginning in early June.

I was able to spend a little time at home in Buffalo, NY this week on a short break which included tons of playtime with my daughter as well as some work at my studio/label. I am busy furiously editing a green screen promotional video for Tokyo's Pinky Doodle Poodle, a song called ''Cosmic Candy'' from their soon to be released full length album on my Good Charamel Records label this summer. The video footage was shot in Tokyo and we are editing the footage and background content here in the US.

Iユm also planning a trip to Japan in early May to visit with family as well as do some publicity/promotion/interviews for the new Magnetic album in Tokyo. Our lead singer John will be in Europe doing press, Mike (our drummer) will be in LA and I will be in Japan doing press at the same time, I believe thatユs the first time the band will be on 3 continents simultaneously doing promotion during an album launch.

ハハハハハハハハハハハ While I was home in Buffalo I got to catch up on the world of the new NHK 15 minute drama "Ama Chan", after the first few episodes I have again been drawn into the show, this time about a young girl wanting to free dive to catch Uni and all of the adventures that surround her life. I was also mesmerized by the last drama ''Jun To Ai'', but I hope "Ama Chan" doesn't leave me sitting on the edge of my chair waiting for a real ending like ''Jun To Ai'' did. But either way, if the NHK dorama is about an Okonomiaki shop (Teppan), Doctor (Umechan Sensei), Sister Seamstresses (Carnation), I know that I will be anxiously awaiting the next episode and the rest of their story!

OK, more gigs for GGDs coming up this month, I'll keep you up to date on all the fun on my next Japan trip as well as the press run that I will be doing during the visit! Please keep up to date w/ all of the goings on with Goo Goo Dolls at ''googoodolls.com'' and check out RobbysLobby.com to tap into my social media streams!

All the best and Peace !

Robby
