Robby's Lobby #83

BlogNovember, 2012Inrock.co.jp

Hey Hey In Rockers and welcome to the lobby for this month's installment, it's been a super busy month for me and I'm excited to fill u in on some of the action as I do every month here in the pages of INROCK!

My month started with a trip to Los Angeles and some recording sessions for the new Goo Goo Dolls album with producer/composer John Shanks (Bon Jovi, Mellissa Etheridge, Van Halen) at Henson Studios in Hollywood. We worked on 3 songs for our new album due out in early 2013 on the Warner Brothers record label. We're using a few producers on this album as we did on our last album ''Something for the Rest of Us'' so this month also saw a few trips to NYC to work with producer Gregg Wattenberg (Train, Daughtry, OAR). We were with Gregg recording some more songs for the album at Quad studios which is famous for many things but mostly noted as the place Tupac Shakur was shot 5 times in Times Square. A session with producer Gregg Wells (All American Rejects, Katy Perry, Weezer) is booked for next month in LA as we draw closer to completing the 10th Goo Goo Dolls album and ready for our next touring cycle in 2013.

Also this month I spent 2 weeks at my Buffalo, NY GCR Audio studios with Tokyo's Pinky Doodle Poodle (featuring noted Anime singer/voice Yuria on lead vocals). The band took the long flight to Buffalo from Japan and after a quick trip to see Niagara Falls (a mandatory stop when you come to Buffalo) we got straight to work recording their new album. The album should be released in early 2013 on my Good Charamel Records label in North America. I produced 10 tracks for PDP and will be mixing the album soon between GGDs recording sessions as I continue this busy month of music making. My wife and I became fast friends w/ PDP and we're happy to have them in our Good Charamel family of JP bands released here in N. America.

PDP also performed a few shows while visiting as well, they did a great gig at the legendary Mohawk Place live house in downtown Buffalo (where we shot Shonen Knife's ive at Mohawk Place DVD) as well as making an appearance at the 10th Anniversary Music is Art Festival put on by the Music is Art arts ハeducation organization I founded in 2004 in my hometown. The festival has grown over the past 10 years to include 11 stages of entertainment spread through the beautiful landscape of the Olmstead designed Delaware Park (Olmstead designed the ultra-famous Central Park in NYC as well as many other notable community park spaces in the US). The MIA festival is a 12 hour marathon of music, art, food, drink and creativity put on by myself and a staff of hundreds of volunteers every year to showcase the talent and creativity of our community. With over 100 musical acts, over 50 DJs, 70 displaying visual artists, 20 live sculptors/muralists, dancers, zombies, escape artists, projectionists, food truck vendors and much, much more. I spend the day's 12 straight hours as host/MC on the main stages, and having PDP come all the way from Tokyo to perform was one of the highlights of the evening. After the sessions and gigs were finished I'm happy to say we've made some great new friends and have a great new band on the Good Charamel Records label to present to audiences here in the US.

Next month takes GGDs to Cancun, Mexico for a show as well as continued recording sessiona and final preparations as we move closer to a completed 10th studio album and another tour cycle and all of the excitement that comes with it ! Thanks for stopping in to visit and as always you can click your way over to robbyslobby.com for links to my social network sites and more information on the goings on in my little part of the world. Ok I'll be back next month with more updates and information for you, hope you have a great month. . . .
Peace !!!!
Robby
