HAIL! Fredonia Records is partnering with the Institute for Autism Research at Canisius College to release a new rendition of singer-songwriter Cassandra Kubinski’s song “Not So Different.”

Music producer, Fredonia faculty member and head of university’s Music Industry program, Armand Petri, brought Ms.Kubinski, Fredonia alumna Mary Ramsey of the 10,000 Maniacs, and John Rzeznik of the Goo Goo Dolls together to make the special release available for download on April 15 on iTunes and Google Play.

In honor of the release, HAIL! Fredonia Records, the university’s student record label, is hosting the “Not So Different” benefit for the Institute for Autism Research on Sunday April 10 from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Williams Center Multipurpose Room. The first hour features an Autism Spectrum Disorder social skills clinic provided by the on-campus group, Voices for Autism, and follows with performances by the Momentum Western New York Choir, Redwood, and The Outofar Jug Trio, activities organized by Fredonia’s student organizations, as well as a raffle including tickets to a sold out acoustic performance by the Goo Goo Dolls featuring Ms. Ramsey, Mr. Rzeznik and Ms. Kubinski in Rockwell Hall at SUNY Buffalo State following Record Store Day on April 16.

Organizers are urging the campus community to “be on the lookout the first week of April as the Fredonia campus is lit up blue” in honor of Autism Awareness Month and to bring awareness to the “Not So Different” benefit. Follow what’s trending with the hashtag “#BlueForASD” on the Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram of HAIL! Fredonia Records.

All proceeds from the song and events will benefit the Institute for Autism Research at Canisius College.
