Knoxville's Tennessee Theatre welcomes chart-topping band, The Goo Goo Dolls, for what's sure to be an electrifying performance on Tuesday, May 4 at 8 p.m.

The Buffalo, N.Y. band, which was formed in 1986, has been down a long, yet very successful road. The band went from being an unknown, punk-influenced trio to a chart-topping act. Their hits range from the middle '90s to now, with songs such as Name, Iris, and Here is Gone, to Give A Little Bit and Let Love In.

The band's latest album Let Love In, was inspired by emotion, honesty and the unexpected home-sick revelation of everyday people.

Founding members John Rzeznik and Robby Takac both left their hometown for L.A., but found out that it wasn't as great as it had seemed. Rzeznik explained that he had no inspiration to write songs, and he felt it had to do with the fact that he couldn't find the inspiration he needed in Los Angeles.

"With that hope, the Goo Goo Dolls have offered Let Love In, a rare work of naked honesty and emotion in songs that will stick in your head for the weeks, months and years to come. AC Entertainment"

In response, Rzeznik loaded up his guitar and recording equipment and headed back to his hometown in Buffalo, where he met up with his band mates--Robby Takac and drummer Mike Malinin. For the band's 8th album entitled Let Love In, Rzeznik and Takac renewed their writing partnership and began to work on lyrics together. This led to a very successful, heartfelt album.

Let Love In was recorded with acclaimed producer Glen Ballard, who said that Rzezkic tapped into his innermost feelings to write songs for tragedy that struck parts of the world, such as Hurricane Katrina. The song Better Days from Let Love In had so much hope, power and empathy that it was adopted by CNN as an anthem for Hurricane Katrina relief efforts.

Better Days was written to restore hope for loss that people feel every day. It is a song about starting over and forgetting the past, because something better will come along.

A source from AC Entertainment said, "With that Hope, the Goo Goo Dolls have offered Let Love In, a rare work of naked honesty and emotion in songs that will stick in your heads for the weeks, months and years to come."

The Goo Goo Dolls gear up for their concert at the Tennessee Theatre on Tuesday, May 4 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $39.50 and are available starting March 5 at 10 a.m at the Tennessee Theatre box office or at Ticket Unlimited outlets, 865-656-4444, or online http://www.tennesseetheatre.com.
