BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) - It's the end of an era for one of Buffalo's musical legends.  Funeral services were held Saturday morning for Lance Diamond inside Kleinhans Music Hall in Buffalo.

Friends and loved ones paid their final respects to the singer whose music entertained and inspired so many over the past 40 years.
The R&B singer also toured around the world and opened for legends like James Brown.

He was inducted into the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame in 1992 and is most recently known for his weekly performances at Milkie's on Elmwood.

"He was such an original. I was thinking about this last night when I went back to my hotel and I was like, there was nobody like him and there never will be anybody like him and it's hard to think about that," said John Rzeznik the lead singer of the Goo Goo Dolls.

Fellow Goo Goo Dolls singer Robby Takac added, "He was our friend number one. And I think he meant a lot to this community and I think this community meant a lot to him too. It was great to see people laughing and crying and dancing and stomping their feet and just paying tribute to a great dude."

Diamond was laid to rest at Ridge Lawn Cemetery following his funeral.

The singer died last Sunday at the age of 72 after battling heart complications.
