Goo Goo Dolls With Rigoletto Thrill Fans At Track 29

Concert ReviewDecember 13, 2013Chattanoogan.com

It was amazing to see two great bands join together to entertain the mass of fans at Track 29 on Tuesday night. This week it was a popular local alternate punk rock band Rigoletto bring their unique rock and rhythm to set the stage for the Goo Goo Dolls.

Chattanooga-based Rigoletto was picked by Goo Goo Dolls to open for their performance at Track 29. Rigoletto is an alternative rock with members Chris Williams, David Griffis, Kirk Ellis and Corey Snipes. More can be found about them on Facebook or visit their web site at  http://rigoletto.us

Goo Goo Dolls (John Rzeznik, Rob Takac and Mike Malinin) are no strangers to the Chattanooga music scene, making several venue appearances over the past few years.  The most recent was Riverbend 2012 on the Coke Stage, prior to stopping in Track 29 this week.   As I prepared to set up my camera and capture another opportunity to freeze frame Goo Goo Dolls.  It was different this time. At Riverbend it was from the media tent, but this week it was stage side at Track 29.

One thing I could not help to notice was the song list.  A total of 19, several from their latest CD release “Magnetic”.  I glanced on the stage floor and observed the song list for the night taped by each microphone - an amazing selection of 19 songs reaching through the last 25 years of solid rock and roll.

This band is no slacker, since their birth in Buffalo, NY in 1986. This band continues to fill venues around the world.  The collaborative team effort of the band continues to illustrate a unique craft skills, talent and song writing abilities - John with his song writing savvy, will tell you that inspiration comes from many places in his life. He shares it with each song he writes and sings.
