New album, recorded with longtime producer Rob Cavallo, expected in March or April.

The Goo Goo Dolls are nearly finished recording their seventh album, which they're calling Gutterflower.

The Buffalo, New York, pop-rock trio — singer/guitarist John Rzeznik, bassist Robby Takac and drummer Mike Malinin — are expected to release a single in February, followed by the album in March or April, according a band spokesperson.

The Goos recorded Gutterflower this summer and fall in Los Angeles with longtime producer Rob Cavallo, the man behind 1995's breakthrough A Boy Named Goo and 1998's Dizzy Up the Girl. Tom Lord-Alge (Blink-182, Live) is mixing the record, which will include 12 new tracks.

Earlier this year, Takac said the new record will be more anthem-oriented than the multiplatinum Dizzy Up the Girl (see "Goo Goo Dolls Remix, Rearrange, Re-Record, Return To Studio").

Goo Goo Dolls fans may have to wait until next year for the new music, but they can hear Rzeznik performing Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here" with Limp Bizkit on the recently released America: A Tribute to Heroes, and they can catch the full band on The Concert for New York City. Both albums were recorded at telethons to benefit victims of the September 11 terrorist attacks.

Rzeznik has since contributed to another fund-raiser, donating his 1967 Pontiac GTO to VH1's Save the Music Foundation. It will be up for auction on VH1.com and eBay until December 17.
