Haven Activities Committee (H.A.C.) announced at the S.C.C. senate
meeting last night that the 2011 spring concert will be The Goo Goo
Dolls.
The Goo Goo Dolls recently performed during the pre-game show at the 2011 NFL Pro Bowl.
"We're
excited that they have decided to come here," said Zack Davis, concert
chair. The concert will be on Sunday, April 10, at Thomas Field House.
A
student survey determined the spring concert selection. The students
chose pop/rock as the most popular music category, and The Goo Goo Dolls
were selected from a pool of artists from that genre.
"They were more than willing to come here," said Davis.
Davis
mentioned that he believes the concert has a different feel to it this
year, and the students will enjoy it based on survey results.
The
Goo Goo Dolls is an alternative rock band formed in 1986 by John
Rzeznik and Robby Takac. Gaining popularity in 1995, when Rzeznik was
approached to do a song for the movie City of Angels, which was the
band's most popular song, Iris.
Iris was followed by Slide, Broadway, and Black Balloon, which shoved the band into mainstream success.
Band members include John Rzeznik, Robby Tacak and Mike Malinin.
Ticket and opening act information will be available soon.
