Goo Goo Dolls are getting into the spirit of giving this holiday season. The band recently donated a large chunk of change to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

Johnny Rzeznik and Robby Takac presented the hospital with a check for $22,800 -- the proceeds from autographed guitars and drumheads sold during their Boxes tour this year.

"Visiting St. Jude was a real eye opener," Johnny says in a statement. "It's amazing that so much good can be done in one place by so many good people. We are grateful to our amazing fans for their generosity and enabling us to present this money to help St. Jude."

The money will go towards treatment, travel, housing or food for families of the patients.

This summer, Goo Goo Dolls began supporting Music Gives to St. Jude Kids, a program that enlists the music community to raise funds and awareness for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
