Goo Goo Dolls Break Their Own Chart Record

Photo Courtesy - Warner Bros. RecordsThe Goo Goo Dolls have broken their own record for the most top-10 singles in the history of Billboard's Adult Top 40 chart. The band had 13 previous top-10 hits on that chart, more than any other act, and now they've scored their 14th with their latest single, "Home." The only acts that come close to the Goo Goo Dolls' record are Matchbox Twenty with 12, and John Mayer and Nickelback, who each have 11.

Goo Goo Dolls frontman Johnny Rzeznik says he was inspired to write the song "Home," ironically, because he's never home. He explains, "I spend so much time on the road, and I'm constantly surrounded by people, but I don't really know them, and I'll probably never see them again. And when you live a life like that, it sorta creates a vacuum of intimacy." Johnny says to combat that, he stays in close contact with his family, his girlfriend and the friends he had before he became famous. He says, "They're what gives you strength and keeps you grounded when you're roaming around playing rock music for a living."

"Home" joins the list of other big Goo Goo Dolls hits like "Iris," "Slide" and "Black Balloon." The band is currently on the road promoting their new CD, Something for the Rest of Us.
