Britain’s Got Talent Robbie Kennedy has sent Goo Goo Dolls song Iris soaring up the charts after he performed it on the show on Saturday night.

The brick layer took to the stage on this weekend’s episode of the talent contest and wowed audiences with his version of the tune.

The track was originally released in April 1998 but returned to the top 10 in the iTunes Store Top 10 Songs chart after Robbie sung it on the show.

And Simon Cowell even predicted the labourer would have a number one hit with the song if he was to release it himself, saying during the show: “I wasn’t expecting that, I think if you were to put that record out, you’d have a number one hit.”

And it wasn’t just Simon who was impressed by the aspiring star – he received glowing comments from fellow judges Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams.

“Robbie, you are so likeable. My heart is pounding. You just knock me out. You have been blessed with a true gift,” said Alesha.

“Robbie your voice is outstanding. So do any of your workmates know how talented you are? Well I can’t wait. You are absolutely going to knock them dead when this goes out on the telly. You were brilliant,” gushed Amanda.

And David agreed, adding: “The contrast between your amazing voice and the acoustic guitar playing worked fantastically. It was really, really stunning and it blew us all away, so well done.”
